May 2008's Teaser

You have two hourglasses--a 4-minute glass and a 7-minute glass.  You want to measure 9 minutes. How do you do it?

Answer to May 2008's Teaser

Start both hourglasses.
When the 4-minute glass runs out, turn it
over (4 minutes elapsed).
When the 7-minute glass runs out, turn
it over (7 minutes elapsed).
When the 4-minute glass runs out this
time (8 minutes elapsed), the 7-minute glass has been running for  1 minute.
Turn it over once again.
When it stops, 9 minutes have
elapsed.

Thought for the Month

A Real Friend ?

Another drink? My best friend said

As he leant across the bar

I can't I replied, you'll see me dead

You know I've got the car

Just the one, I've bought it now

He said as if it mattered

Then I stared across the motorway

Where all my life was scattered

I wish I hadn't listened

I moaned in deep despair

My friend lay dead beside me

He didn't have a care

And if I hadn't listened

My friend might still be there

So if you have a friend

Who insists you have a drink

Just read to him this poem

Which should really make him think

Then if he still insists and tries to make a fuss

Tell him to drink it himself, then make him take the bus!

Play the longevity game, well it's not actually a game.-
Its a light hearted version of a serious tool used by insurance companies to assess how old you will live to be, related to your lifestyle
See how old you will survive to.  You might be pleasantly surprised.........or NOT.
