Hi,
Im having problems starting my 1984 reg - non turbo - 2.5l diesel camper van after having it overhauled recently. The reconditioned starter motor does not appear to be receiving sufficient power to turn the engine over. The battery has been checked out ok and the starter is not jammed. Ive tried bypassing the ignition switch and earth wiring etc without success. There is a clicking noise from the starter solinoid and the (-) terminal gets very hot after a few atttempts to try and turn the engine over. If anyone has had similar problems I would appreciate your input and advice.

Hi Jim
Sounds like it could be one of two things either the starter motor is faulty or a bad earth between the engine and battery.
Have the starter motor tested and check the earth between the engine and battery
